CurrencyConverter247 is a free, browser-based currency converter built to do one thing well: give you a live mid-market exchange rate instantly, without making you sign up for anything or wade through a cluttered page.

The tool supports 30 currencies. Type in an amount, pick your source and target currencies, and you get an instant result. No account, no app to install, no configuration. The rates update daily from the European Central Bank, and nothing about your conversion is stored or transmitted anywhere.

How the rates work

Exchange rates are sourced from ExchangeRate-API and Frankfurter.app, both of which publish reference rates from the European Central Bank (ECB). The ECB publishes official foreign exchange reference rates each working day at approximately 4:00pm Central European Time, based on a concertation procedure involving the European System of Central Banks.

These rates represent the mid-market rate — the midpoint between the buy and sell prices of a currency in the global forex market. It's the rate banks use when trading with each other, and the most accurate neutral benchmark for what a currency is worth. Banks and money transfer services add their own margin on top when selling to consumers. CurrencyConverter247 shows you the underlying reference rate, so you know what you're working with before you approach any provider.

All conversions happen in your browser. No amounts are sent to any server, no conversion history is stored, and no personal data is collected beyond standard analytics (Google Analytics).

Why we built it

Most currency converter sites are slow, ad-heavy, and designed to push you toward financial products rather than give you a clean answer. We wanted something that felt like a proper tool — fast to load, easy to use on a phone, and honest about where the rates come from.

Naming the European Central Bank as the rate source isn't a technicality — it's a deliberate commitment to a neutral, publicly available standard rather than a proprietary or undisclosed source. The mid-market rate is the right benchmark for anyone who wants to understand what a currency is actually worth.
